It's an exciting time to join the British Mountaineering Council, and the GB Climbing department.
This is a new role and the post holder will help to develop and implement administrative processes within the GB Climbing department of the British Mountaineering Council (BMC). This will be multi-faceted administration role from being the first point of contact via telephone or email into the department at the BMC, filtering enquiries to the relevant GB Climbing team member, whilst also providing financial administration, competition events administration, general administration support through to supporting travel and logistical booking support to the GB Climbing National Teams.
This role is office based at the BMC’s headquarters located in West Didsbury, South Manchester. Although once you’ve settled in there may be occasions where some weekend and evening work may be a possibility.
We would love to hear from anyone interested to join us in this critical new support role. Although we would like to see candidates who have critical skills and experience, we are equally looking for a team member who is friendly, has a positive outlook with a can do attitude. Attention to detail and being well organised is critical in this role. We work at pace, and have a friendly team environment. Team work will be a key aspect of the role, as will be the ability to work autonomously, when other staff are out and about at competitions and events.
We work developing pathways for summer Olympic competition climbing disciplines of lead, boulder and speed, ParaClimbing, ice climbing and ski mountaineering from delivering domestic events through to sending teams to overseas completions, so lots going on. If you think you can manage conflicting deadlines and work with a broad range of stakeholders, both internally at the BMC and externally such as climbing walls, athletes, coaches, volunteers and parents, we would love to hear from you.
Competition climbing made its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games and it is confirmed on the Paris 2024 Olympic programme. It is an exciting time for GB Climbing as we look to realise our long-term ambition to become one of the leading competitions climbing nations by 2032. The purpose of this role is to help us realise this ambition by provide administration support across the GB Climbing team.
