Virtual BMC area meetings

Posted by Jon Chittenden on 11/05/2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the first time ever, BMC local area meetings will be held online via the meeting platform Zoom. Read on to find out how you can attend your local area meeting.

The next round of BMC area meetings are happening over the next few weeks,  and these will take place over online video call platform Zoom.

Agendas for all of the local areas will be published in due course, and you will receive an email nearer the time with all of the information. You can expect input from the BMC access team, Steve McClure and anything else that your local area might be cooking up

How to attend virtually

We are asking members to register to area meetings in order to keep track of numbers. Register below to your local area meeting via Eventbrite and you will receive the Zoom joining details in your confirmation email.

If you need help to register and join a Zoom meeting, you can watch the How To video below.

If you would like advice and guidance on how to stay safe online in Zoom meetings, have a read through this helpful document.

If you are still struggling to register, please email areas@thebmc.co.uk for help, but please be aware that BMC staff workloads are high right now but we will do our best to help.

So I have to join Eventbrite and Zoom in order to participate in a BMC Area meeting.

I waded through some of Eventbrite's 6,000 word privacy policy but eventually gave up on the assumption that they must have something to hide. 'We do not sell or give away your data or let it out of the EU' is only 16 words....

Zoom had a lot of security flaws and personal data issues highlighted in the IT security press. Most of them seem to have been addressed, but still not something I will use.

Having access to social media is nice. Being forced to use it is not.
