Ever wondered about the dark art of bolting? In association with the Cumbria Bolt Fund and Association of Mountain Instructors, BMC TV presents it's latest film series: bolting skills. So whether you're looking to brush up on your knowledge or are fascinated to find out how it's done, have a watch and learn - it's real drilling!

To help you reinforce your skills, we've teamed up with the Association of Mountain Instructors (AMI) and the Cumbria Bolt Fund to produce a series of instructional videos.

About the Cumbria Bolt Fund

The Cumbria Bolt Fund was rejuvenated in 2007 to help fund the cost of the replacement of protection bolts and lower-offs throughout Cumbria and surrounding areas.

Many of the bolts in Cumbrian crags were placed in the 80's and 90's and are now in a dangerous state and in need of replacement.  Some have been replaced however there are many still awaiting attention.

The bolt fund is funded by donations and support form the BMC, you, shops and climbing clubs. Look out for the donation boxes around the area or donate via PayPal.

It is important to control the use of bolts on the crags so in order to bolt a crag it should first be agreed by seeking persmission of the landowner and getting agreement at a local BMC area meeting.

RAD is community led and your comments help keep it up to date so don’t be afraid to add any relevant information after a crag visit which might be useful for other visitors – anything from conditions on the crag, favourite routes or reports of rockfall/other recent changes to the crag are all useful for other climbers visiting.
