HOW TO: Get the BMC member 15% discount on tickets

Don't worry, with four separate climbing film sessions on offer over the weekend you won’t miss that big move, whipper, or suffering on the big screen. Here's our top five picks of the bunch:

BMC Climb Night with David Lama

A route first attempted in the 1981 by the BMC’s own Nick Colton and Tim Leach, the SE ridge of Annapurna III is one of the great Himalayan challenges. David Lama came on to the scene as a young prodigy on rock, then moved to plastic and excelled, now he has moved into the Alpine and great ranges with his talents. This is a great opportunity to see him talk about this iconic route and take part in a Q&A.

Rope Soloing El Cap: Pete Whittaker

In November 2016, Pete Whittaker became the first person to rope solo El Cap in Yosemite in a day. What's even more impressive is that a year before he barely knew how to rope solo at all! Watch and listen as Pete recalls the reasons behind this personal challenge and the mistakes he learnt along the way to becoming the first person to succeed. An all-round legend, this is definitely a must-see film and talk.

Ape Index: Hard Grit Live

It seems incredible that the all-time classic climbing film, Hard Grit, is almost twenty years old this year. And in a spirit of milking the past for all it's worth, some of the people behind the film are getting together for a once-in-a-lifetime live event in Sheffield to remember the fun and spirit that went into the film, and the climbs that it spawned.
