Peak Railway Line Project

An update on what is currently happening with this

A first stage feasibility study is scheduled to begin in September 2002. Its remit is to determine whether reopening the Matlock - Buxton - Chinley rail link is a viable proposition, and, if it is, to indicate the best way of doing so. This will take about a year. Whilst Derbyshire County Council is well aware of the BMC's interest, there is little we can practically do at present since nothing to which we could either object or lend our support has actually been proposed. There is at present no funding in place for any second stage study, nor for any construction project.
