Latest online news from the Peak Area: November 2015

Posted by Tony Ryan on 06/11/2015
The November newsletter wants your thoughts on managing the Stanage North Lees Estate.

The November 2015 issue of the BMC Peak Area newsletter is now online, keeping you informed about what’s happening in the region, including the next BMC area meeting.

In this issue: Lynn Robinson bids a fond farewell as she completes her five-year term as area secretary; Henry Folkard rounds up access news, and takes a look at visitor payback schemes, management of the Stanage North Lees Estate, and the emergence of night-time recreational activities and drones; plus news from the most recent BMC Hill Walking Working Group meeting, and details of the winter walk being held on Saturday 28 November.

The next Peak Area Meeting is on Wednesday 18 November 2015, starting at 7.30pm, at The Maynard, Main Road, Grindleford, Derbyshire S32 2HE.

Come along to our regular gathering of Peak climbers and walkers, to discuss the latest issues and get involved in the work of the BMC. The area meetings are run by volunteers and are your chance to join in with debate and influence decisions about what happens in the Peak and rest of the country. Rebekah Newman from the Peak District National Park Authority will be attending to update us on the latest developments; and it’s the area AGM, so elections will be taking place for various area officer and representative roles.

Annual Quiz
We will also be holding the annual quiz of fun and general chaos with amazing prizes!
Test yourself: try last year’s quiz (hosted by ukBouldering).
Hill walkers will be glad to know that Cath and Peter, our hill walking reps, will be contributing questions to this year’s quiz, so it won’t be all ‘name the route this handhold is on’.

Free supper provided by the BMC. All are welcome.

See the BMC Local Areas site for more details about the meeting
