Outdoor Industry Census

Who do you work with?

SkillsActive is undertaking an online census of the outdoor industry to establish a full picutre of the sector's make up.

SkillsActive is the employer-led organisation licensed by government as the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure and Learning. This includes the outdoor sector.  One of their roles is improving workforce training and qualification provision for employers/ees.

The Outdoors Sector Census aims to collect information on the key activities and services offered by outdoor organisations, the seasonal variation of both activities and participation across the UK, and the main participants for these activities. SkillsActive also wish to know about commercial, public, voluntary and charitable/not-for profit organisations operating within the sector.

SkillsActive are interested in hearing about all forms of outdoor/adventurous recreation, education and development training delivery, even if activity provision is not a core business. Providers need not be outdoor centres in their traditional sense. Just as important are those offering outdoor activities as a sideline, such as a B&B business with a guided mountain bike service.

The survey will be active until at least the end of March to maximise the chances of it being seen. In case of any queries please contact Kevyn Burns.
