In a sign of growing backing for our big appeal to fix our hills and mountains, leading British outdoor clothing and pack maker Montane has announced it will donate 1% of its website sales to Mend Our Mountains: Make One Million for the rest of the campaign.
Northumberland-based manufacturer Montane is already the BMC’s recommended clothing and pack manufacturer, but has now announced it will be doing its bit to reach the ambitious £1 million target we are striving towards to help tackle runaway erosion on places like Scafell Pike, Cadair Idris and Beinn a’ Ghlo.
Mend Our Mountains: Make One Million is coordinated by the BMC and supported by the UK’s National Parks, Mountaineering Scotland, and a host of other organisations, while headline sponsorship is generously provided by Cotswold Outdoor and Snow+Rock.
Montane’s support adds the weight of another respected British brand to this UK-wide coalition. BMC hill walking officer and Mend Our Mountains campaign lead, Carey Davies, said: “Having the support of Montane is a great boost for 'Mend Our Mountains: Make One Million.'
“The backing of recognised and trusted brands like Montane and other partners shows the outdoor industry is responding to this call and rallying round to do its bit for the places we all benefit from.”
Montane's Head of Marketing Terry Stephenson said: "We are pledging 1% of our website sales to this worthy cause, hoping to improve and preserve these magnificent places for years to come."
The Mend Our Mountains team are currently in discussion with a range of outdoor companies and there will be further announcements of support in the weeks to come.

What is Mend Our Mountains: Make One Million?
Mend Our Mountains: Make One Million is a year-long appeal to raise £1 million in total for a range of vital path repair projects within the UK’s entire family of 15 National Parks, with headline sponsorship provided by Cotswold Outdoor and Snow + Rock.
The ‘big push’ started at the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival last weekend, with a host of events and promotions over the weekend to galvanise public support for the appeal.
The appeal is about more than just tidying up a few muddy paths. The hills and mountains look after our health, and we want to look after theirs. Find out how you can do your bit:
