Urchin's Kitchen

Cheshire

A small rocky gorge in Primrose Hill Wood. The climbing is on the 1st buttress on the right when entering the gorge from the north (there is a bench-like shelf at the left end). Soft rock even for Cheshire sandstone - avoid when at all damp.

Parking and Approach

Park at the car park next to the A54 at map ref 540687 (check to see if the gate will be locked in the evening). Take the path from the west (Kelsall) side of the car park then go south across the fields to follow a path leading east along the edge of the wood. The gorge is just inside the wood, but the entrance can be tricky to find. An alternative approach is from the Waste Lane parking area - walk down the service track and the entrance to the gorge on the left is marked by an information board. The crag is then on your left up a short footpath access (may be soggy!).
