Millhead Quarry

Lancashire

A curious little quarry with a lot of potential space but little charm. From Carnforth, take the road towards Warton, and after the two railway bridges and the small humpback bridge, take the 2nd right into a small industrial area. Follow a narrowing track down to the football club. The bottom of the quarry is now Millhead FC's pitch, so best avoided on Saturday/Sunday mornings. The routes from Goalpost Groove to Stormbringer are on the large wall behind the goalpost. Tooty Fruity and Gimcrack are harder to find, in the trees on the left. There is much unclimbed rock in the quarry, but many lines, particularly to the left of Gimcrack, would finish in the gardens of houses above, requiring a lower-off or an act of trespass. Look out for the large, rubbish-filled cave.
