Mynydd Dinas

Pembroke North

The dolerite outcrops of rocks on Mynydd Dinas provide an opportunity for bouldering in a largely undeveloped area. The rock provides grit-like friction with the potential for a number of high-ball problems.Carn Enoch and Garn Fawr provide the main interest, with several micro-routes on the north side of Garn Fawr, but some problems exist on the smaller Carnsefyll and Elephant's Arse Boulders. You'll need a copy of the Climbers' Club North Pembroke Guide or the old 'Anorak bouldering guide' to locate the problems.

Parking and Approach

Approach from the road leading south from the centre of Dinas Cross. Some parking available on the left hand side of the road at the nearest point to the outcrops. Alternatively park at the viewing point above Dinas Cross.
Area information

Less frequented than the south, there are some very popular cliffs along the southern bays of St David's, but also some very remote and atmospheric cliffs further north. Wildlife is abundant and the abscence of a formal restriction does not mean that protected birds are not present - so climbers are asked to be observant and avoid routes if the prescence of climbers is obviously causing disturbance to the birds. Many of the bays are also important seal breeding areas - if breeding seals are present then again please avoid.
