Craig Buddon

East Midlands

Good, climbing on excellent rough rock.

Crag information
Climbing Area: Midlands Rock Type: Granite
Importance: Regional CRoW Land: No
Ownership: Utilities Company No. of Routes: 29
Within National Park: No Year Developed: 1960
Grid Reference: SK558150

Anyone visiting Craig Buddon should be sure to descend the crag either by abseil or by walking through the woodland to the right (ie the reservoir side) of the crag. The slopes to the left are ecologically sensitive (Severn Trent Water is encouraging heather regeneration in the area) and should be avoided.

Please note that a short new section of fencing (Summer 2018) has been installed on the stone wall boundary that marks the boundary of the land owned by Severn Trent and Tarmac who own the land behind the wall. It doesn't stop you getting over the wall, but please do not damage the fencing. Also be aware that the owners are taking a much keener interest in climbers and will ask you to leave if they spot you there. Tarmac are particuarly keen for people not to climb over the dividing wall.

Access seems a definite issue, was asked to leave by a uniformed man (presumably Severn Trent). Probably worth calling them up in advance - we didn't!

We did 3 nice routes here but were then asked to leave as we were trespassing. The uniformed security lady was pleasant about it and left us to climb up and remove our ab rope etc. climbing is clearly not really allowed here at all. Shame
