Black Rock Quarry (Cheddar)

This once quarried outcrop is situated where the track from Velvet Bottom joins the National Trust part of the Gorge and is best reached by following the track from Black Rock Gate at the top of Cheddar Gorge.Although loose it is worth the walk.There are several bolts at the top of the crag(without hangers).

Parking and Approach

Park at the top of the Gorge, lock cars securely.Follow the track from Black rock Gate for about half a kilometre until you come to a large restored Limekiln on the left,the crag is behind this.Although groups are not welcome individual climbers are allowed.

Please anyone in this area keep an eye out for a lost German shepherd dog - she went missing from cheddar gorge and may be there wandering or have fallen and be injured. Please call me any information at all - jo 07775806676

Crag has fallen down, especially the LHS, and more blocks just waiting to fall
