Snowdonia

A pleasant single pitch small crag, with unusual rock. Located on private land, its South aspect, low altitude and shelter from the forest can make climbing viable here when the mountain crags are impossible. All the routes are in the lower grade.

Located on private land - there are signs suggesting that access is not allowed but it is belived that these signs are left over from when contractors were carrying out substantial felling and other forestry works in the area in 2018. There are no recent reports of access issues. 

Parking and Approach

Situated in a private forest; The descent to the crag from the ridge at the west end is getting eroded and can be muddy, an easier-angled approach can be made from the east end of the crag-easier to find when leaving! 

Group Advice

Located in a private forest area, the crag is frequently used by groups. However in 20017 the woods appear to be managed by a private agency for the absentee owners.  In additon the woodland managers do not wish groups to be in the woods when felling/contractor operations are underway (usually mid-week only). 

Area information

A wide range of cliffs - mainly traditional and multi pitch inc. the popular Llanberis Pass, Idwal Slabs, Clogwyn du'r Arddu and Cwm Silyn cliffs, but also outlying outcrops such as Carreg Alltrem. Many crags are on CROW access land - but not all especially some of the outcrops which lie on private enclosed land. Most of central Snowdonia is both designated an SSSI and also is an European Special Area of Conservation on account of the upland habitat and associated geology and plants found here.

Ownership and access has changed. Could you cut and paste the new text from UKC and change the access status to amber please

The owner does not encourage public access. Forestry operations are taking place on weekdays throughout the summer of 2017 so the crag is best avoided at these times.

Where the track leaves the parking area is a prominent notice stating "Private land - no public right of way".

Altenative route from track leaving the parking area: To avoid the fire break walk in, follow the track for approx 600m to where there track is runs parallel with the craig on your left hand side. There is a large area on RHS tree feld area. You pass a small slab on LHS and another 50 meters there is a small track going left to top RHS of the craig. This takes you to the decent route down the top of the pitches.
