	What do you do about membership forms when using electronic payments?

	Jane Moseley.: we (Northumbrian Mountaineering Club) also use GoCardless and a Google form for membership form completion which has a link to the GoCardless sign up form.

	we ( The Climbers Club ) use a combination of many things. Actively transitioning from a dedicated bureau (paper/file based) to gocardless via a members portal-WIP. 
	This is to save admin time, data security and overall compliance imrovements.

	Some clubs do have a reasonable proportion of inactive members who are content to remain members to support the club and receive news, journals, etc. 
	One club I belong to doesn't even require members to still be alive - so long as they keep paying (which happens surprisingly often - probably from joint accounts)!

	Agree with Julian on the options available response to Deb H. GoCardless was the best low volume option when we adopted it 2013/2014. 
	Recent increases looks like our total annual cost will be ~£147 compared to ~£102 currently. 
	We have 200 members and use GoCardless for all membership fees, all meets, t-shirts, guidebooks, etc. 
	Still good value for the service provided IMHO

	Have to compare cost to a volunteers time. That and GoCardless lead the way on the interface and setup/members ease too. :)

	My club is very much the same. Very few people resign  which is why as Editor i had 30 pages of obituaries in the last  journal

	They also have instant payments if the members bank supports it. Handy for signup/registration and capturing the intent to join there and then :)

	it is essentila thta your DD reference identifies you. I have spent ages trying to identify a payment when the ref only assisted the instigater

	If you use Pay Pal make sure that payments made under Friends & Family so not to be charged a fee...….

	Kirsty, small risk of someone doing a chargeback. Have to have non tangible goods in the description to reduce.

	The issue of ethical banking. We are with HSBC which is dreadful in terms of investment in fossil fuels.
