GB Paraclimbers headed out to Imst, Austria for the first IFSC Paracup of the season - team manager Robin O'Leary reports from the well attended event.
The first round of the IFSC Paraclimbing World Cup took place this past weekend at the Kletterzentrum Imst in Austria. Myself and Belinda Fuller took the incredibly strong GB Paraclimbing team out to the event.
Wow! There's not much else I can say. 56 competitors giving it their all. No excuses, just grit determination and a drive for success. There are all types of disabilities involved, but doesnt seem to stop any of them.
Coaching the GB ParaClimbing Team is certainly an eye opener. I did it last year, but this year the team had grown, the team bond improved and not only was it a great success, incredibly humbling, but also so much fun.
The GB team are all inspirational to me - they are all my heroes. With two class wins and 1 second place, we got some great results under the belt. As always, we can and will learn from the experience and I have no doubt you'll be seeing more medals over the season.
A fantastic event and I cannot wait to see them crush and to just spend time with the team.again in two weeks. Well done Team GB, you did your country proud!
A massive thank you to Birchall Blackburn Law , Berghaus and the BMC for supporting the team.
