The GB Junior Lead Climbing Team followed up their excellent qualification round results with strong performances in the semi-finals of the IFSC World Youth Championships in Canada.

Team captain Molly Thompson-Smith confirmed her status as one of the world’s best junior climbers by qualifying for her third world championship final in 7th position.

William Bosi and Pete Dawson narrowly missed out on reaching the Male Youth B final by the smallest of margins (three points) in what was a very tight category; William finished 12th and Pete was 13th. Whilst Pete's form is continuing to improve, William can count himself unlucky that he did not make the final as his performances in the previous rounds were exceptional and but for a small error he would have made the final alongside Molly, repeating his achievement in Singapore 12 months earlier.

In his first world championship, Jim Pope (Male Youth B) first finished 24th, the same position as Alex Waterhouse (Male Youth A) while Buster Martin (Male Youth A) finished 26th in his second world semi-final in three years.

In the Female Youth A final, Molly climbed strongly on a testing 8a+ route and eventually finished 7th on countback having reached the same point as two other climbers.
