Club membership: the benefits to your club

Posted by Alex Messenger on 08/07/2011

Affiliating your club to the BMC comes with a great range of benefits.

Becoming an affiliated club
Applications for Club membership are welcomed from groups who fulfil the criteria as specified in Article 5.2 of the Memorandum of Association of the BMC. Applications must be submitted to the National Council for approval.  Club membership runs from 1st January each year. However, in the case of educational establishments, we can offer affiliation from 1st October to the 30th September the following year.

Keeping in touch
If you have recently become Secretary or BMC representative for your club, you should make sure that we have your correct details. It is worth checking the BMC website to see if your club is listed correctly in the Find a Club section. Clubs must maintain appropriate membership records and update the BMC on a regular basis with details of new members. New members are insured from the day they pay membership to the club, provided that the club clearly records the date of payment and that the money and member's details are passed on the BMC by the end of every quarter. If you need to make any changes, or need to discuss any of your club's needs, feel free to contact the BMC office.

Getting involved
Area meetings are designed to discuss some of the issues that are happening nationally within your sport as well as locally within your area. There are 4-5 Area meetings per year in each area.
All BMC members are welcome to attend BMC Area Meetings and clubs are very welcome to send official representatives if they wish.  The BMC is encouraging more clubs to come forward and get involved and if you feel that you or any members of your club are able to do this and you would like more information then please do not hesitate to get in touch with the BMC office.

Find details of your next area meeting here.
