We're excited to announce the release of BMC TV's latest feature-length running film: Cape Wrath Ultra. This hardcore eight-day 400km ultra-running expedition winds through some of the most beautiful scenery in the Scottish Highlands. Feel the racers' pain, grit, and joy, as they take on this inspirational adventure.

Exhilarating, unbelievably tough, and awesomely unique: the Cape Wrath Ultra™ has often been referred to as the UK's answer to the Marathon des Sables. It takes participants on an incredible journey through remote Scotland and some of the world's most jaw-droppingly beautiful landscapes, including: Morar, Knoydart, Kintail, Torridon, Assynt, and Sutherland.

Ita Emanuela Marzotto of Italy, the 2016 ladies’ winner, said: “This race is the hardest thing I’ve done, harder than the 10 day race in Australia or the Marathon Des Sables.”

The privilege to film the inaugural Cape Wrath Ultra™ event was snapped up by BMC TV, and we knew that a full-length 30-minute film was needed. Our cameras went close in on the action, the racers, and the story, in order to allow viewers the chance to experience the toughness of the event and the beauty of the remote wilderness in this one-of-a-kind film.

Marcus Scotney, winner of the inaugral 2016 mens', said: “The Cape Wrath Ultra™ is a truly stunning and amazing route up through the Highlands of Scotland. No two days were the same, and each one offered something different.

“I discovered how far I could push my body each day learning what my limits are, and discovering a lot about myself on the run and will definitely want to try more multi-day runs. I don't know if any would compare to this, as the Cape Wrath Ultra™ really is unique, totally incomparable.”

Ourea Events, Cape Wrath Ultra™ organisers, commented: “We’re delighted to have partnered with the BMC in order to showcase this extraordinary footage of the first ever 400km, 8-day running adventure to Cape Wrath. We’re certain that BMC TV viewers will be in awe at this adventure as it weaves through the Scottish Highlands and some of the world's most inspirational landscapes.”

Cape Wrath Ultra was premiered at the Buxton Adventure Festival and was greatly received, and will feature at these upcoming film festivals:

Jasmin Paris breaks all the records of the Montane Spine Race

Just 10 days ago, Jasmin Paris became the first woman to win the Spine Race, and also smashed the winter record for the route by around 12 hours. This non-stop, unsupported trail ultramarathon is one of the world's toughest. Even more impressively, Jasmin was having to express milk at checkpoints.
