Another round of great results from the GB Climbing Team at the European Youth Cup for Lead in Mitterdorf, Austria. Half of the team made it into finals and another podium and bronze medal was won by Jim Pope. Awesome work team! Find out more and full results below.

Our up-and-coming athletes did us proud again last weekend in Mitterdorf, Austria, and another set of super results were won by these young guns against some of the best talent in the European Youth Cup for Lead. After a promising qualifiers round, where Will Bosi made it through in first place, half of the GB Climbing Team would be coming back for finals on Sunday.

Will Bosi, Jim Pope, Hannah Slaney, Kitty Morrison and Hamish McArthur all trooped up to enter isolation on Sunday morning. Nerves were jangling, but the team couldn't have been in better hands, with strong support from the accompanying coaches Ian Dunn, Eliie Howard, Mark Gleanie, Sam Emmett and senior competitor Molly Thompson-Smith.

Hamish climbed well to make another fifth place, which seems to be his lucky number at the moment, and he was joined by Hannah too who also placed fifth.

Will Bosi looked to be on fire in the final, but a slight route reading error stalled his progress and he just missed out on a medal in fourth place after qualifying in first.

On the other hand, Jim Pope, who had qualified in fifth, stormed up the route to gain two places and a bronze medal in third.

Ian Dunn, team coach, says: “With these great young climbers trying really hard and representing GB very, very well, it's only a matter of time before we start to take home some victories.

“Well done all, and massive thanks to all who supported the team.”

The GB Climbing Team was supported by Ellie Howard, Sam Emmett, Mark Gleanie, Molly Thompson-Smith and Ian Dunn.
