The first round of the British Drytooling Series took place last Sunday at Rope Race, Marple with the UK's best drytoolers competing on some weird and wacky routes.

Competitors had 9 rope rope routes and 7 boulder problems to attempt in a 5 hour period, with the top 5 going through to the final. There were some weird and wonderfull routes involving logs, chains, hanging volumes and hooking brickwork edges which made for really fun competition.

The UK's best drytoolers made up the finalists and the final results can be seen below. The finals routes started with a long and very thin traverse in to the start of the route then moving onto the headwall with long moves off thin hooks and steinpulls. It was a tense final, with Scott Grosandoff and Anna Wells putting in strong performances to take the top spots. Emma Powell also did very well to finish 2nd as a junior in a senior event.

Finals
Men
Scott Grosdanoff 1st
Will Woodhead 2nd
Simon Ward 3rd
Ramon Marin 4th
Dave Bowes 5th
Women
Anna Wells 1st
Emma Powell 2nd

The full results can be found here.

The next round is on the 13 December at King Kong Climbing Wall, Keswick
and Round 3 - Date TBC - will be at The Leeds Wall
