The Championships took place over two days (5-6 October) at the brand new Awesome Walls Sheffield climbing centre and it was the very first time that the huge competition wall and the speed wall had been climbed on.

Saturday
The first day was given over to all the youth and veteran lead climbing categories.

Most of the young competitors brought several people with them  - family and friends - as supporters, which meant there was a sizable crowd watching; which, along with a rousing commentary from Ian Smith, made for a great atmosphere.

Some climbers confirmed their dominance by retaining their places from 2012. Whereas others improved their positions.

Those who retained their winning places from last year were; William Bosi (Male B), Connor Byrne (Male A) and Eddie Cooper (Male Vet).

New winners this year were: Catrin Rose (Female C), Aiden Dunne (Male C), Emily Allen (Female B), Molly Thompson-Smith (Female A), Will Smith (Male Junior), Charlotte Garden (Female Junior), and Joanna Goorney (Female Vet).

A full breakdown of scores and results from the first day of the competition can be found here.

Sunday
The second day of competition was given over to the Senior Lead and the Junior and Senior Speed climbing competitons.  So it was a very full day.

In the lead climbing events, Ed Hamer retained the Male Senior title that he won last year.

The really big news here is that Molly Thompson-Smith, who'd won the Female A lead category the previous day, also won the Senior Female lead category, and won it convincingly by topping out on all the routes! At age just 15 she also becomes the youngest ever winner of a Senior GB title.

A full breakdown of scores and results for the  Senior Lead categories can be found here.

In the speed climbing events all the categories had new winners.

Flo Tilley won the Female Juniors, Alexander Bosi beat off some really stiff competition from his own brother William to win Male Juniors. Lucia Korcova won the Female Seniors and Orrin Coley, who won the Juniors last year,  and is current GB speed climbing record holder, won the Male Seniors in an outstanding PB time of 9.17 seconds.

Full results Senior Speed categories can be found here.
