Returning for 2018: BMC Members' Handbook Photo Competition

Are you a photography enthusiast? Or maybe you just can’t help taking pictures of the outdoors? Either way, we’re inviting all our members to send in your best photo! All entries to our 2018 Members' Photo Competition have the chance to win awesome prizes from our recommended retail partners Cotswold Outdoor and Snow+Rock, and the best photos even get published in this year's Handbook.

We know our members love adventuring in the outdoors and we’re sure some of you will have been taking pictures. If you’ve taken a photo that you’re especially proud about, we’d like to invite you to enter it into our second BMC Members’ Handbook Photo Competition.

The photos can be of anything: vivid landscapes, action-shots of climbing, biking, or whatever, your favourite wildlife snap, or mid-wilderness portraits.

Last year's theme was Lost in Adventure, and we had a real tough time whittling down all the amazing entries to just one winner and one runner-up. Euan Ryan bagged the main prize in 2017 with his fantastic photo of Rebekah Drummond onsighting Painted Walls, E5, on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland.

Euan said: “Rebekah Drummond considers the next few moves on an E5 onsight, Painted Walls, Isle of Lewis. Never is the feeling of being lost more prevalent than when onsighting hard trad routes, especially marooned on this vast wall of Lewesian Gneiss.”

We loved the colours, composition, and felt the photo fit last year's theme beautifully. There were so many amazing entries, but this year we hope to see more! The theme we’re proposing this year is:

Perfect Partners

What brings you joy? In adventuring, especially risky environments, it's often a good idea to find the perfect partner to watch your back and share the experiences. And it's not just about protecting you from danger, sometimes you just want to enjoy the wilderness with your perfect partner.

Not only will winning entries see their photos published in the 2018 Members' Handbook, there's a pile of superb prizes provided by the BMC's Recommended Retail Partners Cotswold Outdoor and Snow+Rock. These include:

First prize: Osprey Stratos 34L Rucksack & Fitbit Charge 2

That's right, the lucky winner of the 2018 BMC Members' Photo Competition bags both of these awesome prizes, with a combined worth of £250!

First runner-up prize: Rock Out 2 Rechargeable Speaker

Second runner-up prize: Hydro flask & Bridgedale Trailblaize

Our members are what make the BMC so great. And we do our utmost to protect and promote the interests of our members, which are rooted in being able to make use of our beautiful outdoors. That’s why we want to see how all our members enjoy it and who you enjoy it with; so send us your photos to be in with a chance to win and you even might see it printed in the 2018 Members' Handbook.

Details

The competition will be running until 28 February 2018, and is seeking entries from our members. The winning images will be published in the BMC Handbook mid-March and online shortly after. Main prizes have been provided by the BMC's Recommended Retail Partners - Cotswold Outdoor and Snow+Rock and are detailed above. Other prizes include BMC Shop goodies and t-shirts.
