Five reasons why you need BMC Travel Insurance

Posted by Peter Burnside on 20/09/2016
BMC Insurance: there when you need it.

Whether you’re hot-stepping it to hot-rock, heading off piste or planning a mountain adventure, BMC Travel Insurance could be your perfect travelling companion. Reliable, adventurous, quick and effective, it can help you out should you find yourself in a tricky situation.

Why should you choose BMC Travel Insurance? Well we've got at least five reasons:

1. Our policies are designed for you

Our policies are designed specifically to meet the needs of climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers. You can choose from five policies, providing cover for a range of travel, trekking, hill walking, climbing, skiing and mountaineering activities. Specialist policies can also be arranged for climbs and expeditions to inaccessible regions anywhere in the world, including unclimbed peaks.

2. You can trust us

From walking in the Alps to exploring the Greater Ranges, we’ve been insuring climbers and mountaineers for over 30 years. You can even receive your policy details straight to your mobile phone so you always have them on hand.

3. 24-hour emergency assistance is just a phone call away

If you find yourself in a medical emergency then our 24-hour Speciality Assist helpline is just a phone call away. Each policy comes with a personalised and durable emergency contact card to take on your travels. Medical costs and repatriation can be very costly if you don’t have insurance. If the worst does happen, you’ll be glad of our cover, including:
  • Up to £10 million emergency medical cover
  • Up to £100,000 cover for search, rescue and recovery as standard
  • Up to £10,000 personal accident cover

4. We're competitively priced

All our policies are competitively priced. We regularly review our rates and terms and conditions and check these against other adventure insurance providers. There's a discount for booking online, as well as special rates for couples, children and families.

Various lengths of cover are available and you can specify the area of cover: UK, Europe, worldwide (excluding USA & Canada) and worldwide, so you’re only paying for what you need. There’s also a Travel rate for friends and family members not participating in activities (who are also BMC members or affiliated to the BMC).

There is no loading on our rates for 65-69 years olds (Europe cover only).

If you hold one of these professional awards (AMI, BMG, BAIML or MTA) and you purchase BMC Travel Insurance and are acting professionally the 'professional extension' is now completely free.

Any surpluses are invested back into our work for climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers…so the only one to profit is you.

5. It comes highly recommended

Over 15,000 policies are taken out each year.

Don't hang around

This spring, annual BMC Rock Insurance is only £95* for multi-trip policies in Europe. Time to book another adventure.

We've been insuring climbers like you for over 30 years. That's why all of our policies come with:

  • 24-hour emergency assistance helpline
  • £10 million emergency medical cover
  • £100,000 search, rescue and recovery cover
  • £10,000 personal accident cover
  • £5,000 cancellation cover
  • £2,500 baggage cover
  • No age loading until you're 70
