BMC Helmet Campaign Video

In this BMC Helmet Campaign video we interview climbers at Stanage Edge, England's most popular crag, to find out about their attitudes to wearing helmets, and we discuss the different kinds of helmet on offer.

We ask climber Neil Bentley about why he chose to wear a helmet on the first ascent of Equilibrium, the UK's first E10, and find out how a serious head injury affected his life, after an accident on the Marmolada in the Dolomites.

Climbing since the 1970s always worn a lid. Try wearing the old joe brown fibre glass and foam lined lids on a sunny day in cornwall or long route in the alps; after that you will not notice wearing a modern helmets they are light weight and well ventilated. Get the point about low risk while cragging in the peak but still wear a lid biggest risk is the increasing number of inconsiderate fools around not looking out below before chucking stuff down rather than carrying it. Why take the risk; last thing i want is to be injured and not be able to walk or climb again just because I couldn't be bothered to wear a lid.
