Follow the crowd to the Peak District!

The biennial clubs seminar is at Castleton YHA on Saturday 12 October 2013. Catch up with old friends, make some new ones and learn something too. And enjoy lunch courtesy of the BMC.

This year’s seminar will include presentations on a range of topics, including:

  • Top tips for club officials
  • Technical advice on maintaining your personal and club climbing equipment
  • Social media and helping to promote your club: Facebook, Twitter, websites and so much more.
  • Grants and financial support for clubs: advice on putting applications into the BMC for various grants
  • From wall to rock: how to help wall users become members of your club
  • Walking clubs: how to support new members
  • Setting up and managing a club database
  • Insurance issues: plain english guide to club insurance

The seminar is free to attend, lunch is included and clubs can send up to two members. Spaces will be limited, so don’t leave your booking too late.

A slideshow presentation will be taking place on the Friday evening if you stay over on the Friday night.

YHA Castleton has reserved the BMC 28 bed spaces, and you should contact them directly if wishing to stay there. These will be held until 12 August, after which they will be open to anyone to book. Ensure you book by then to secure a bed.

Upcoming BMC events for clubs include:

Student Safety and Good Practice Seminar - The seminar gives university club members the opportunity to improve their club practices and ensure safer enjoyment of our cliffs and mountains.  The weekend comprises a mixture of lectures, discussions and practical workshops.

Club Training Courses - Winter skills, Navigation, Climbing Self-Rescue and First Aid weekend courses held around the country for club members.
