Get ready for your alpine adventures at one of our alpine skills lectures this April. Tickets on sale beginning of March.

Who can go? The Alpine Lectures are brilliant for anybody new to alpine climbing who want to further develop their skills. You’ll go from bumbling about to striding with confidence to the summit after you’ve gained all the knowledge from our alpine experts Steve Long and Calum Muskett.

Calum Muskett

24-year-old Calum discovered climbing when he was 13. He’s travelled all over the world climbing difficult alpine routes as well as free climbing big walls such as El Capitan in Yosemite. Calum is an aspirant British Mountain Guide.

Steve Long

International Mountain Guide Steve has been mountaineering for over 30 years and has climbed in every continent and skied in most. Highlight ascents include the Dru in winter, Cerro Torre, Low’s Gully (Borneo), and an epic attempt on Great Trango.

So what skills will you learn about? Everything the new alpine adventurer could possibly need, including:

Acclimatisation
Fitness Preparation
Alpine Areas
Effective movement/glacial travel
Alpine Hazards
Risk Management
Ski Mountaineering
Next Steps

What’s more, there’ll be loads of Alpkit goodies up for grabs in the free prize draw to tool you up!

Tickets on sale from March

Tickets will be available to purchase online via eventbrite. Tickets cost £7 for BMC members and £9 for non-members. There’ll be a group discount: £4.75 when purchasing 10 or more tickets.

We’ve joined forces with Alpkit to make our alpine lectures better than ever.

#AlpineAdventures Competition

Throughout June, July and August, the BMC and Alpkit are running an alpine competition. Share your alpine adventures on social media with the hashtag #AlpineAdventures and you’ll be entered into a fantastic prize draw worth hundreds of pounds (winners will be announced in September).

And that’s not the only competition we’ll be running. At every lecture there’ll be the chance to win one of many Alpkit goodies.
