New route in the Indian Himalaya for Malcolm Bass and Guy Buckingham

In a five-day round trip from base camp, Malcolm Bass and Guy Buckingham, supported by grants from the Montane Alpine Club Climbing Fund, Austrian Alpine Club, BMC and MEF, made the first ascent of the difficult north-west ridge of Gangstang in the Indian Himalaya.

Supported by a grant from the Mount Everest Foundation, Paul Knott (formerly UK, now resident in New Zealand) and Vaughan Snowdon (NZ) have made the first ascent of unnamed Pik 5,602m, one of the highest remaining unclimbed summits in the West Kokshaal-too region of Kyrgyzstan.

Pete Graham and Ben Silvestre: how to climb a new route in Alaska

Brits Pete Graham and Ben Silvestre have climbed a new route on the east face of Jezebel, in the relatively unexplored east part of the Revelations Range at the south west end of the Alaska Range. Jezebel west summit 9650' has been climbed twice before, but the east summit 9450' and the east face were unclimbed.

British ascent of new peak in Tajikistan

Although forced to retreat from possibly the last remaining virgin 6,000er in the Muzkol Range, a four-member British expedition was able to make the first ascent of Peak 5,553m via a 1,200m route of Alpine D.
