I thought it was the British Mountaineering Council. Why no lectures in Scotland?
Right enough, it’s probably better to focus on people south of the Border.
Great to tell them how to acquire Alpine skills, but maybe the BMC should make them aware of the skills necessary to survive in the Scottish mountains – especially the Cairngorms.

Hi Derek, the Mountaineering Council of Scotland delivers good practice lectures in Scotland. The BMC and MCofS also deliver winter lectures series, with ours touring during November.
The BMC produced a winter skills video back in the 90's which was re-made as the Winter Essentials DVD in 2005. This was a BMC / MCofS / MTE co-production. The Alpine Essentials DVD followed in 2006.
The BMC publishes the Safety on Mountains booklet, which has a section on winter mountaineering. The BMC Student Safety seminar, now in its 20th year, provides student clubs with vital advice on managing themselves in the hills.
So rest assured we've been on the case in preparing people for Scottish and Alpine mountains for many years!

Is the BMC planning to video this at one of the venues and make it available for those who are interested but can't make it? If not could I suggest you do so :-).

That came out a little stronger than I intended: please read as "if not could I make the suggestion" :-).
