Birtle Boulder

Lancashire

A single boulder in a quiet location over-looking a lake, has a few problems on it up to f7A, good for a quick visit, also in a nice location with a decent pub/ restaurant nearby. Featured in the 2014 Lancashire bouldering guide.

Parking and Approach

Turn off B6222 Rochdale Old road onto Castle Hill Road, at the T-Junction turn right park once you've passed the house on the right, don't block any gates etc (be sensible), walk down the dirt road till you get to a small metal gate marked as a footpath, head leftwards through the field to another gate go through this, the boulder is on your left. The boulder is on Private land and is near housing, keep noise to a minimum and don't leave litter (basic crag etiquette).
