There are 4 exciting new job opportunities at the BMC. Two new officer positions will cover youth, equity and partnerships, while we're also expanding our digital media team.

News that sport climbing has been short listed for 2020 Olymipics is an exciting propostion. We'll be supporting the IFSC bid in the run-up to the final decision next August.

The foreign office has changed its travel advice for Nepal, signifying that recovery from the earthquakes continues to go well. The BMC is proud to have been offering insurance to Nepal thoughout this trekking season.

Wild Ben Winston, filmmaker and climber, dies in Peak District
Last weekend, Sheffield climber, writer, photographer and filmmaker Ben Winston (39) collapsed while camping alone at Lawrencefield, one of his favourite spots. Despite help from Edale Mountain Rescue and the ambulance service, he did not survive.
MPs hold skyline summit meeting to champion outdoor recreation
A record number of MPs and Lords took to the hills on Friday 18 September to walk along the Edale Skyline with the BMC, on the annual walk of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Mountaineering.
Success: British Polar explorer talks climbing the Nose with Hans Florine
The BMC would like to say a big thank you to British Polar explorer Fiona Thornewill MBE, who recently climbed the Nose to raise funds for the BMC's Access and Conservation Trust, and to inspire people they can do anything, if they want to enough – Fiona is a 50-year-old amateur climber and mother of two. Fiona joined Hans Florine, who holds the speed record, for his 100th ascent of the route.
