Posted by Carey Davies on 20/08/2015

If things go wrong in the mountains, what do you do? Chris Townsend explains the procedures you need to know but hope never to use.

The vast majority of visits to the mountains are safe, successful and fun.

But on rare occasions things do go wrong. Thankfully, over the years a number of techniques and procedures have been developed for attracting help, and knowing them can literally prove life-saving.

One of the world’s most respected experts on long-distance walking and backpacking, Chris Townsend takes us through what they are.
