The BMC is inviting members to a forum in Hayfield, Peak District, to hear about our latest ideas to improve our work for hill walkers.

Are you a BMC member and interested in our ongoing efforts to improve our work for hill walkers? Then come along to the BMC Members Forum in Hayfield on Saturday November 29.

You will have a chance to join us for a walk, meet BMC staff and others, feast on a buffet lunch and talk about our hill walking work and plans. It follows a previous event held for the wider public in Hayfield earlier this year.

We will introduce you to our new strategy proposal on how the BMC can improve its work for walkers. Prepared by Carey Davies, our hill walking officer, it sets out developments in a wide range of areas that aim to make the BMC the natural home for hill walkers.

The proposal was approved by the BMC’s National Council in September, following extensive consultations with members and the hill walking community through surveys, social media, and face to face discussions.

We have already taken action to improve the scope of our hill walking work, including increasing the amount of hill walking content in the BMC’s media, appointing a hill walking ambassador, forming a partnership with hill walker Greg Mulholland MP and launching hill walking access campaigns like Open Wales.

The strategic proposal now needs your input and your thoughts to help us identify priorities and achievable aims for the future.

To help do this, a voluntary working group will be established to progress and help implement the recommendations, and there are a number of places available for interested and qualified members.

The working group is expected to complete its work over two years. We will be talking more about this in Hayfield.
