The owner of Craig Ty Newydd has placed signs on the approach to the crag stating that access for climbing is suspended until further notice. Climbers are advised not to climb here while negotiations are being undertaken.

Craig Ty Newydd at Dyserth is one of the better quality and most sheltered of the newly developed crags along the A55 limestone area. There have been a few access issues in the past, mainly centred on the fact that the crag is within intensively farmed enclosed land and the little valley that contains the crag is used for pheasant rearing which provides the farmer with a significant proportion of his income.

The shooting syndicate that lease the pheasant shoot from the farmer have had concerns in the past that climbing activities disturb the pheasant roosts, and a seasonal restriction was put in place from October to the end of January, but it now appears that climbing has been banned until further notice.

The BMC will be meeting with the land owner as soon as possible to investigate the situation and updates will be posted here and on the Regional Access Database.
