Great results for British Youth in Vienna

Posted by Ian Dunn, Team Manager on 19/08/2010
Luke Tilley in action in Vienna.

The second round of the European Youth Series took place in Vienna in mid-August and our team members put in some tremendous performances.

There were 10 climbers competing for Team GB and we had two finalists. Luke Tilley coming an outstanding 6th in the Youth A boys and Ed Hamer 10th in the Juniors.

Luke climbed amazingly well competing first on the first qualifier and topping out on the route. The first time he has managed that in an EYS qualifier. In the final he moved up from qualifying in 10th to 6th place with a really determined and gritty performance.

Ed made his second final on the trot and looks strong for a good ranking this year.

Narrowly missing the final was Kitty Wallace 12th and Natalie Berry 13th.  Only 10 go through and both were suffering injuries but hope to be fit for the World Youth Championship in Ratho in September.

Other climbers competing were Steven Addison who put in an excellent performance, Jonny Stocking, Jonny Field, Paul Williamson, Eleanor Hopkins and Rachel Carr.

It was a great trip, excellent Team spirit and super results too.
