Results from the EYS - Solid effort from Team GB

The European Youth Series event at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena proved to be a great experience for the British Junior Climbing Team, with some strong performances in competition with the best junior climbers in Europe.

There were some amazing climbing performances in all categories and with two Brits competing in the final, they had something to prove on home ground! In the end both Natalie Berry and Jonathan Stocking put in solid performances finishing 4th and 5th respectively, just shy of the podiums.

Special mention should also go to Mario Lechner from Austria who after injuring his knee in warmup on the Saturday gave an impressive display in the final as he campused through the main roof of the EICA comp wall, once it became obvious that his left leg was pretty much useless to him. He went on to fall off just short of the chains to claim the win in the Junior category.

Charlotte Durif also out classed the rest of the Junior female field to keep her unbeaten record in the EYS so far this year.

The rest of the British Junior Team - all 32 of them - competed well and had a great time in what was for some their first experience of an International competition. There was plenty of interaction between the teams, with all 17 countries sharing their competition experience.

A huge vote of thanks goes to the EICA staff and all the BMC volunteers that made the event happen. Another shining example of capacity of the BMC loyal band of competition volunteers.

A list of the top 5 from each category can be seen below and a full set of results can be seen by clicking on the IFSC website.
