The BMC Midlands Area Meeting will be held at Newton Linford Village Hall on Wednesday 6 June 2018, starting at 9.00pm (food from 8.30), with climbing and walking on offer prior to the meeting.

As a membership organisation we want our all our members to be able to get involved and have their say. Area meetings are key to this, it’s where local action starts and ideas are discussed. This includes informing local climbers and walkers about regional and national issues, and providing a forum for local opinions on matters such as crag access, conservation issues, and national debates such as wind farms, land use and road building schemes.

For our summer meeting we are going to take advantage of the long evenings and (hopefully) good weather to get out and enjoy some of the walking/climbing available in our area. The location for this is the countryside in and around Bradgate Park, just off the M1 near Leicester. The actual area meeting will take place from 9-10pm in the Newton Linford Village Hall. But before the meeting we will have walking, bouldering and climbing on offer, see details below. As usual there will be free food, thanks to the BMC, served from 8:30pm in the village hall.

Walking: Come and enjoy a walk in the lovely Bradgate Park. Our walking group will leave from the Village Hall in Newton Linford at 7pm sharp and we aim to be back around 8:15pm. Allowing time to enjoy a drink in the Bradgate Pub next to the village hall before the meeting.

Bouldering: Less than 10 minutes’ drive from the Village Hall is Beacon Hill which has a range of boulder problems and short routes to suit all abilities. We aim to be at the crag from 6:30pm until 8:30pm. Bring your bouldering mat if you have one.

Climbing: There are a number of crags in the area with some excellent climbing available. Take a look on UK Climbing and don't forget to check the latest access info on the BMC Regional Access Database. Remember to drag yourself away in time to make the start of the meeting at 9pm.

This meeting provides the last opportunity before the BMC AGM on 16 June for members to get together and discuss the AGM resolutions and nominations.

#YourBMC: It's time to vote!
Don't let your AGM vote go to waste. To ensure we’re in the best shape for future challenges, we’re asking all our members to vote on a new constitution. This year, you can cast your vote online. Find out more here.

Newton Linford village hall is on the Main Street next to the Bradgate public house.
