2017 #BeAGameChanger Awards

Posted by Joanna Rowbottom on 21/03/2017

Amazing news! The BMC has been shortlisted for National Governing Body (NGB) of the Year at the Women's Sports Trust 2017 #BeAGameChanger awards.

We're incredibly excited to be nominated and grateful for the recognition of all the hard work the BMC is doing to showcase the value of women and girls in our activities.

The BMC is committed to raising the profile of women and girls in climbing, hill walking, and mountaineering, at all levels and we're proud of our achievements so far: from the films, events and competitions we produced, to our inspirational BMC ambassadors and our This Girl Can Climb campaigns and activities.

The Women's Development Group is doing its utmost to drive this area of work, and has a range of exciting plans for the future.

What are the #BeAGameChanger Awards?

The #BeAGameChanger Awards recognise those individuals and organisations doing the most to progress women's sport. There are a number of awards for different categories that range from Sporting Role Model – Individual, to Inspiring Initiative – Local/Grassroots.

The National Governing Body (NGB) of the year award recognises NGBs that have demonstrated innovation and commitment to women’s sport with a clear impact on participation, engagement and profile.

How does it work?

Following a public nomination process, each award is shortlisted by the Women's Sport Trust Board of Trustees. The finalists in each category will then be chosen by an Expert Panel, and then the public will have the final say.

Public voting on finalists in each category will open on 18 April and the winners will be announced at the #BAGC2017 awards in London on 11 May 2017.
