The BMC is pleased to announce that the 2012 BMC AGM weekend is taking place from Friday 27 April to Sunday 29 April 2012 at the Malham Tarn Field Studies Centre in the Yorkshire Dales.
Head over on Friday night to enjoy good food and good company in a fantastic location. BMC CEO Dave Turnbull will present a slideshow of his expedition with Mick Fowler to western Nepal. In 2011 the pair made the first ascent of Gojung, a 6,300-metre peak in the remote Kojichuwa Valley, a region little travelled by any foreigners, let alone mountaineers.
Saturday morning is free for walking and climbing after a hearty breakfast at the Centre. Within walking distance of the Centre are famous limestone features including Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and spectacular karst landscapes. The route of the Pennine Way footpath runs very close to the centre. Nearby habitats include limestone pavement, grassland, woodland and species-rich fen, acid peat pools and stony hill streams.
The National Open Forum takes place on Saturday afternoon from 2.30 - 3.30 pm, so please come along to air your views and support the work of the BMC. The BMC Access Officers will be there to answer any of your questions.
The AGM follows at 4.30 pm; registration is from 2.30 pm and is mandatory for all members wishing to vote on any of the agenda items. If you are unable to attend in person, you can use the proxy voting form (enclosed with Summit) to allow another BMC member to vote on your behalf.
Once the business is over, Saturday evening is the time to relax and enjoy the company of fellow climbers and hill walkers. There will be a hog roast buffet (free for BMC members) out on the lawn overlooking the Tarn, as well as a cash bar to enjoy some lovely local bitters.
Contact kate@thebmc.co.uk / 0161 438 3303 to book your buffet place.
