Avon Gorge route closure notification

ClimbBristol is undertaking improvement works on Morning Slab, Avon Gorge on the weekend of 5 and 6 January 2013. Some routes will be closed during the work period.

The works have been consented by Natural England, and will include scrub and loose rock removal. The following climbs will be closed throughout that weekend:

Main Wall: All routes between The Evening Light and Morning Slab
Morning Slab: All routes
Evening Wall: All routes

With apologies for any inconvenience caused.

ClimbBristol is a BMC project launched earlier this year, with the aim of caring for and promoting the interests of what has been called ‘the most significant urban crag in Britain’.

Avon calling: celebrate this great city crag at our summer festival

Avon Gorge has been called ‘the most significant urban crag in Britain’, and is home to countless wonderful trad, mixed and bolted routes. To showcase its unique and historic climbing, and to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the BMC, the ClimbBristol team has planned a day and night of festival fun on Saturday 26 July.
