Getting good information on the easier “three star routes” in the Mont Blanc Range is complicated, but a new list of over 100 selected climbs will help mountaineers find route descriptions within a number of guidebooks to the area.

The BMC's Clubs' Committee recently asked all affiliated clubs to complete an online survey. We were very pleased with the participation: 140 out of 320 clubs took part, which is quite notable for any sort of survey.
The BMC was able to award a little over £10,000 to climbers involved in eight expeditions planning first ascents in the World's mountain ranges.

The Forestry Commission, which owns and runs 18% of England's woods, has announced significant changes after its budget was cut. These cuts could impact on the public services it currently provides. It is therefore important that the BMC help shape any future recommendations for our forests, by giving the Independent Panel on Forestry our views on why we value forests and woods so much.
