A project to restore the moorland of Kinder Scout begins in 2011 and might require the installation of a temporary sheep-proof fence. We are encouraging members to comment on the location of the fence on this iconic upland area steeped in the struggle for access to the countryside.

The National Trust has secured over £2.5 million to carry out the next stage of major restoration work on Kinder Scout. The project will take place over 5 years starting in 2011 and will see vast areas of the bare and degraded blanket peat landscape restored by gully-blocking, brash spreading and moorland revegetation work.
The BMC and the Ramblers have together produced a comprehensive information and training pack which will enable volunteers to play a full part in Natural England's coastal access scheme.
