The details of the coalition government’s comprehensive spending review have now been announced; as expected the cuts are deep and wide ranging. The BMC will continue to encourage support for recreation in the countryside with MPs over the coming months and years.

The BMC Open Youth Winter Lead Event will be held at Awesome Walls, Liverpool on 8 December. There will also be a brand-new bouldering-only event at the Climbing Hangar, Liverpool on 9 December. Both competitions are designed to be fun but competitive.

Unable to gain a permit for their original goal, Janahut, Malcolm Bass and Paul Figg turned their attentions to Vasuki Parbat and were successful in making the first ascent of the West Face and only the third recorded ascent of this 6,792m peak in the Indian Gangotri.
The American Alpine Club held their International Climbers’ Meet in the majestic Yosemite National Park from 4th to 10th October 2010. Eszter Horvath and Callum Muskett went as BMC representatives.
