Summit up for Nepal

Issue 50 of Summit magazine is just out - have you seen it yet?

One person who definately has is Mr Murari Raj Sharma, the Nepalese Ambassador to Britain. Dave Turnbull (BMC CEO) personally delivered a copy fresh off the press to Mr Sharma when he met him at Westminster earlier this week. Dave and Cath Flitcroft (BMC Access & Conservation Officer) had arranged the meeting with the help of John Mann MP -  the lead figure in the Pariliamentary Mountaineering Group.

The meeting was part of ongoing work on behalf of climbers, walkers and mountaineers, and topics of conversation included Nepalese policy on peak fees, liaison officers plus the problem of rubbish left by climbers and trekkers in the high mountains. Mr Murari Raj Sharma enjoyed his browse of Summit magazine, and confirmed that the political landscape in Nepal is stable and the country welcomes visitors.
