Mountain Leader Training England has produced a DVD showcasing the eight leadership and instructional awards available in the UK.
The Mountaineering Instructor Award, known as the MIA, is for instructors working in summer conditions and covers multi-pitch rock climbing, scrambling and other mountaineering skills.
The films follows an MIA holder introducing two novices to the complexities of British rock climbing. It gives a great insight into the MIA and includes an interview with the instructor.

Those looking to gain the MIA must first complete the Mountain Leader award. Once further experience has been gained, it is possible to register for the scheme with Mountain Leader Training UK. For more information read the MIA prospectus and syllabus.
The films of all the awards available in the UK can be viewed on the BMC website. Alternatively, contact Mountain Leader Training England for a copy of the comprehensive DVD.
