Mountain Leader Training England has produced a DVD showcasing the eight leadership and instructional awards available in the UK.
The IML provides comprehensive training and assessment for individuals who aspire to work as leaders in Europe and further afield. It covers the skills for leading trekking parties in all mountain areas except on glaciers, or where alpine techniques are required.
The film provides a picture of where IMLs work and includes an interview with an IML.
Those looking to gain the IML must first complete the Mountain Leader award. Once further experience has been gained, it is possible to register for the IML with Mountain Leader Training UK. For more information, read the IML syllabus and prospectus.
A carnet is required to work internationally. British IMLs would join the British Association of International Mountain Leaders to receive theirs.
